Wrath of the Linch King, Beta Test

Yah, I almost got fooled into giving away my WoW account information.  Someone sent me an email with the subject “Wrath of the Linch King beta test invitation!”  I was overjoyed and clicked on the link that said http://beta.worldofwarcraft.com.  I’m so lucky I’m a web developer - I immediately noticed I was sent to a site with a completely different URL… “We’re not in worldofwarcraft.com anymore.”  The first thing that comes to mind is, “Maybe Blizzard is using a third party to handle the beta invitations.”  Then right after that is, “Hey, could someone be trying to phish some information out of me!?”

Just wanted to say High 5 To Madmaxx for his arrival on the Lvl 70 Status that he has so much sought after.  Now if we can only get him to give up on some G’s we would be ok

Auctioneer

We’re all wondering what happened to the WoW killer-add-on, Auctioneer, after patch 3.0.2 was released.  A lot of us downloaded the compatible version only to think that it didn’t work.  Well after skimming their wiki - I see that everything was intentional.  See more details on Auctioneer at their site:

http://wiki.norganna.org/Adaptation_from_Auctioneer_Classic_to_Auctioneer_Advanced

All of the views and stats are still there, they’re just turned off.

  1. The only way I know how to get to Auctioneer’s configuration is to go to the auction house and once the auction window is present, click on “Configure” on the top.
  2. Expand the “Stat Modules” option and click on “Histogram”.  That’s the one folks are used to.  Go ahead and click on everything to see what stats you want and what you don’t.

The Headless Horseman

This month’s event is Hallow’s End.  It’s Azeroth’s equivalent to Halloween.

  • Type: Seasonal Holiday
  • Date: October 18 - November 1
  • Location: Stormwind, Ironforge, Darnassus, Orgrimmar, Undercity, Thunderbluff, any in

There are a couple of events, lots of loot and lots of goodies during this holiday.  The most covented loots are dropped from the seasonal boss, The Headless Horseman.  He pays a quick visit at the newb zones to show them that he is real, but if you want to vanquish him for good - head over to his shrine at the Scarlet Monastery graveyard.  Unfortunetly; this requires someone level 65+ to get the quest: Call the Headless Horseman.  Lucky for us, we have a good number of guildmates at or over that level.

So; I want to see how many instances we can run to defeat this horseman.  If you want in on this action, visit the forums and lets talk about it.

Patch 3.0.2: Echos of Doom

Wow!  I didn’t pay any attention to the patch talk I kept hearing about through the WoW podcasts, but man am I happy its here.  I’m finishing up my download as I’m writing this.  I checked out WoW’s site and I saw they added some really neat features:

I’m gonna be all over that barbershop!  Oh and the Player Calendar - our guild just started to take advantage of the add-on GroupCalendar.  This is awesome that it’s now a feature in-game.  Find out more about this content patch at http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/info/underdev/implemented/3p02.html.

If you’re having a hard time getting the patch from the official resources, there are lots of mirrors: http://www.wowwiki.com/Patch_mirrors.

Jintha'Alor in The Hinterlands

What a tale of war, deception, pain and brotherly trust.  Well, not really, but I could fake it.  At this point I’m not even into the Lore anymore.  I just want to hit 70.  I’m a lite role player and from 20 - 45 I read all the quest details and for a moment is was really neat learning about the conflicts these NPCs were having.  After 50 it was all about getting to 60 and then getting to 70. Screw the lore, just get me to an end-game status.  I said all of that to say I don’t even remember how I got into this quest-chain.  All I know is I was back at The Hinterlands fighting the troll menace.
