Saving Private Sharpbeak

Jintha'Alor in The Hinterlands

What a tale of war, deception, pain and brotherly trust.  Well, not really, but I could fake it.  At this point I’m not even into the Lore anymore.  I just want to hit 70.  I’m a lite role player and from 20 - 45 I read all the quest details and for a moment is was really neat learning about the conflicts these NPCs were having.  After 50 it was all about getting to 60 and then getting to 70. Screw the lore, just get me to an end-game status.  I said all of that to say I don’t even remember how I got into this quest-chain.  All I know is I was back at The Hinterlands fighting the troll menace.

As of this post date, I’m a level 53 shadow priest (with about 20k of experience points left to DINGville).  I thought to myself, I wonder if I can solo this quest.  The last time I was in this zone, that Jintha’Alor area looks really heavily guarded.  I thought to myself, “I’ll never be able to get through there!”  Since then I’ve experience gigantic dinosaurs and all manner of beast.  These high-level 40s didn’t seem to scare me anymore.  I like how I did this quest, if you don’t mind me bragging; I basically killed only the necessary foes - the ones in my way to saving Sharpbeak.  I took my time and surveyed the area first before putting these disgusting trolls out of their misery (so clique).

The Vile Priestess Hexx

Vile Priestess HexxI made my way to the top, to hunt this Vile Priestess Hexx… replace that “H” with an “S” and you have a party!  Back to the story.  I found her and I noticed she was surrounded by guards and wolves, but they weren’t all bunched up together.  I thought that was odd.  Naturally; I picked them off one-by-one so that all I had left was this witch-docta’.  I stacked my Inner Fire and released my Holy Fire upon her and from that moment on she kicked my ass.  Woah!?  What the hell happened!?

Yah; after I picked up my corpse I found a nice quiet spot to sit and read the notes previous warriors have left for me in WoW Head through the Lightheaded add-on.  It was within those pages of notes I saw that she Hex’s you into a frog and simply stops on you repeatedly.  Everyone basically had the same solution, “Bring a friend.”  She can only Hex one person at a time - so while she’s Hexin’ your friend you mana burn her to death.

So; I called in the EotE headquarters and requested for backup.  I think about 6 people were on and Jordi answered the call.  He was finishing up something and he’d be on his way.  I waited, but I had a growing headache and it didn’t seem smart to just sit there and make this headache worse.  So; I left a message for Jordi in party and guild channel and logged off.  I figured, I’ll spam the channels tomorrow for someone in that zone.  Well; as far fetched as I thought that idea was - it worked.

Day Two

The following morning I tried my hand at this witch again.  I forget the fellas’ name, but I helped him with a quest and he helped me.  I spammed channels one and four using two macros (/macro).  He was a level 48 hunter and we pummeled our way back to the top of Jintha’Alor.  I was party leader so I marked the important mobs and told him we need to clear the area before going after Priestess Hexx.  Yah, that didn’t work - this guy was all over the place - pullin’ mobs left and right.  Who does he think he is, “Jordi”!?  Only the mighty and cearless Jordi can purposly pull hundreds of mobs and expect to walk away without a scratch.  I tell ya, he sure made this session interesting as a healer/dps’er.  Well in the end we down’d that troll and even showed him the alter for him to forge the Mallet of Zul’Farrak.

Epic Ending

So; you think it ended there.  Nope, I was just about to exit the game when a level 70 troll (human player) saw us and decided to have his way with us.  At first I thought it was a draenei on a raptor mount.  I thought to myself, “That’s weird - I guess he got one of those special mount codes or something.”  He dismounted and started attacking us.  I tried to heal my commrad only to have died myself.  So; the quest isn’t completely over, I need to free Sharpbeak from his cage.  What a way to epically end this run!?  Ironically; we died to a much higher-level troll after pwn’in all the other troll NPCs.  “Oh Azeroth, how you mock us!”
