WTF Zul’Farrak!?

Zul'Farrak loading screen

This dungeon is totally crazy and crazy long.  Last night I logged on around 10:00 PM EST (7:00 PM server time) and saw a couple of the guildies on.  I asked if anyone was going to do the Zul’Farrak run and a couple folks said yes.  Cool - even our fearless leader, Aariana showed up… or I should say that I was on when our leader was on.  It was good seeing Aariana and she even agreed to come and help us out.  It started out good, Jimaay met me at… I don’t know what to call it… the city of Tanaris!? or just the ol’ dirty outpost named, Tanaris.  Either way our adventure for the next hour and a half started there.

Let us Ride with the Desert Wind!

It was kind of epic how we started… I hearthed to Tanaris and I added Jim to my party.  I saw that he was in Tanaris as well, I told him that I’m ready to go and mounted up on my trusty Nightsaber.  I saw his blue dot moving on my map as he came up behind me.  WIthout even saying a word as he passed me, I started to ride and we continued onward.  It was like (said with a barbarian overtone), “Ah brother, let us ride to this Elune-forken dungeon of Zul’Farrak and rid ourselves of these dispicable trolls!”  I don’t know if I expressed it right, but it was a cool way of meeting up.  So; while we’re riding there, Jim has no intention of stopping.  He aggro’d just about every mob on the way - it was awesome!

TrollsSo; we finally got things settled after rustling with who was actually going to do the run.  I ended up puggin’ two more guys in our party.  So; I think we had three guildies and two outsiders to run Zul’Farrak.  Jordi was one of them, so obviously he became our main tank.  We jumped in, I quickly asked folks if they had a plan, since I’m a dungeon newb (I should stop saying that) and we gradually started our way through ZF.  This place is full of mobs and after about an hour or so of fighting - we just cleared the 2nd dungeon boss.  What the hell!?  It just kept going on and on and on.  It was a little crazy because Jordi, being that level-70-indestructible paladin, he kept pulling droves of trolls.  So; we’d have a sit down for a couple seconds (to mana up), then I’d notice that my guys health points were going down fast.  So; I’d rush to help them, then get aggro’d because I’m healing too much and so forth and so on.  It was wild.  I even got some more practice with some crowd control.  I learned that I shouldn’t do it all the time and communicate when I’m going to mind control and release that control too.

Cleanup on Isle-Everywhere

At one point we free’d some captives at the top of this huge pryamid-like structure… when I looked down that structure and saw a sea of trolls hanging down there - I almost soiled my robe!  They suddendly attacked; thank Elune they weren’t  elite mobs, but I wiped about two or three times during that session.  After that the dungeon run went down hill.  People had to leave and I still didn’t know where we were or how much further the end of the dungeon was.

I’m Done with It!

As we were existing, or so I thought, I noticed that were were passing a lot of bugs and then swarms of trolls.  It was a total massacure.  That was it; I was done for the night.  After I released my spirit, I took the resurrection sickness and dropped the dungeon.  It was a long night and I’ll have to go back and finish those quests some other time.  I got my carrot on a stick too, very cool.  Overall; good times, pretty wild and it gave me a glimsp into how long these dungeons can be.  You need lots of potions and lots of bag space.

Jordi, brah - no need to apologize. Your kid was sick, no worries. You’re like a war general (Aariana, seriously you should create a rank just for Jordi) - always making sure we all go in and get out together! We know where your heart is. It was fun and it really excited me about other old-world dungeons I’m probably missing out on. So it’s all good. Where will we battle next, my liege?
